The
origin of the Tigers started in 2000 as Scottish flag champions under
the Strathclyde Posse banner, changing both name to Glasgow Tigers
and discipline to youth kitted in 2001. An inaugural year which
saw the Tigers only loosing out on points for a place in the playoffs.
In 2002 head coach Alan Wilson
fielded what was virtually a rookie team,
The Tigers ended up midway in the rankings, and had 12 players selected
to play for Team Scotland and 3 in the GB squad.2003 saw the Tigers
victorious in the Plate final ,and they were only just pipped to
make it a repeat performance in 2004 by the Lancashire Wolverines. Loosing
only 1 game in the season and a convincing win in the playoffs
took the Tigers through to a place in the 2006 Championships to
play eventual winners London Olympians in one of the best displays of
football in Youth history. 11 Tiger players were in the winning Team
2006 saw the Tigers as division
champions losing out on a final berth
by losing out at the playoffs to eventual winners London Warriors.
The Tigers then went on to play Clyde Valley Hawks in the Plate
final which saw the Tigers winning it for a second time. 2007
saw 3 teams at the top of the Division all at 4 and 2 the Tigers being
placed 3rd due to points conceded although they beat Division champs
newboys Gateshead Senators during the regular season. Although qualifying
for the playoffs a lack of funds meant they were unable to travel
to London Warriors.
